Freaky Quotes....

I have not blogged for a pretty long time...seems work is slowly taken over my life...I even missed playing Holi due to this...Anyway, project has been delivered and I also came to know some quotes or is it proverbs or still, is it idioms, from a guy in my project team, who keeps using them.One of my friends said it's Sidhuism.....Enjoy!!

"A pat on the back is not too far from a kick on the butt."

"Fate has loaded its dice"

"Holding a cat by it's tail teaches you things you learn no other way"..(I know...didn't make any sense to me too.)

"Don't bet on a horse you have not seen run."

"That's the way the cookie crumbles.".........can be used anywhere,anytime!!!

"After the game, the king and pawn, both go into the same box."

"You can't make omelettes without breaking eggs."

Anyway I am going home tomorrow, after a long time ,....It's gonna be a surprise visit cause I haven't told my parents I am dropping by..It's my Dad's b'day too ..Kolkata here I come!!!

P.S: Will try to blog from there!!!

Serene waters...

This is a pic of the lake in front of my house. It's local name is "Ganesha Talaab", cause during Ganesha Chauthi ( god in Hindu mythology with an elephant's head), idols of this god is immersed in this lake. The rest of the season~garbage!!No wonder my roomie calls it a sewage pond!!!

The thing is its nice getting such a great view from one's window(posted before~~~Help...are you there??? ).Children sit on the banks fishing while local dhobis (washer men) wash the clothes of their unsuspecting customers out here. Couples (old and young) sit on the steps leading to it in the evenings. In the night however, its inky blackness which reflects the street lamps, doesn't make it a very nice place to sit beside. Oh yeah...it's an abode for snakes, frogs and turtles!!

Sometimes I wish the Municipal guys would bring a dredger to clean up this pond. During our training days, our batch had planned to go along with one of our trainers, who worked in a NGO, to clean up this pond, but somehow the plan never materialized. I have heard people say, why should we clean up somebody else's "shit"!!!Cause for a better tomorrow you got to start cleaning up from today!!!

Fundaaa??????Nay!!!Just plain truth......

Along came the rain!!

The first rain of this year fell a few days before. Looks like Pune doesn't seem to have spring. After winter, it had been stifling hot for the past 2 weeks. Stepping out of doors in the afternoon was unthinkable and the comfort of the AC was like paradise.So the rain came as a pleasant surprise.

I remember when I was in college, when the monsoons fell for the first time, the guys in the hostel would run out to have a game of football or kabbadi (actually a mixture of shoving and pulling).After an intense game which would last for more than 2 hours and consisted of bringing down anyone and everyone onto the mud, it was when we stepped into the showers that the bruises and cuts start smarting and burning.After that burning hot onion pakodas and tea from the nearby tea-shop and what more could you desire?? Oh yeah!! The next day had an extraordinary number of absentees for classes due to fever or cold!!!!

Anyway, the rain started sometime in the night and went on the whole day!!It was just a drizzle but was definitely a welcome relief!!! While coming back from office, there are fields on both sides of the road. In the night, with the wind blowing real hard and the rain splattering on the windshield of the vehicle, the drive back was too good!!!

It's become hot again.The juice sellers are having a field day. Fortunately Pune is not sweaty and sticky like Mumbai or Chennai, so the heat is bearable. Waiting for the next rain now!!

Living under the same Sun!!

I was reading about Cameroon international and Barcelona footballer Etto's racial abuse while he was playing in a club game.People are being abused because of the color of their skins.Also,it doesn't happen only to the poor or backward people.Even high profile people like Etto are also mocked because of their skin color.Hats of to the guy who continued to play even after such an incident.These are the instances when I feel, how crappy can people be.And it's not about color.Tottenham player Mido was verbally abused by West Ham fans cause he was a Muslim.

It's sad that there are such people who have such a despecable attitude.I love watching as well as playing football and when such things happen, it gives a bad name to the game.Check the color of the common football!Isn't it ironic that,it's composed of white and black .

What's more preposterous is that, the club in this case got off with a fine of 9000$, this not being the first time the club was hauled up for such an act.Playing in a closed stadium or banning them for a minimum of one game would have been a better option.

What are we coming to???We are in the 21st century, but still people offend each other on the basis of caste, color, religion.From corporate offices to football fields, this is a stigma which exists in society
~~~~~~~~~~Aren't we living under the same sun??
Here is a poem written by a white, catholic girl who was pained by the discrimination she saw against Jews and blacks.
In God's Eyes
-by Monica
I don't understand why they treat us this way,
We are not that different, inside we're all the same,
We should not be judged by our religion or the color of our face,
Because in the end, we're all running this same race,
I wake up each day and I want to run away,
Away from this world of cruelty and shame,
And I think of the joy that our world could have,
If we all stop this madness and never forget that in God's eyes,
we are all the Same.
Life goes on!!
People come and people go.. I have realized that holding onto them is like postponing the inevitable... we make friends, we lose them.... Promises of phone calls and e-mails on parting .... and as time flows, their frequency gradually reduce, until one day they stop!!!School friends are replaced by college ones and college ones by office colleagues!!!Life flows on, and boats come up ,flow with yours for some time and then float away!!!Saying bye is difficult!!However it's a momentary phase of sorrow which soon passes away!!You see....Life goes on!!
